When girls grow up and are ready to go into the next stage of their life, motherhood, they suddenly realise that they should look after their health if they are to give birth to healthy children. Although that is a great idea, it is a thought that would have been even better to have had 10 years ago.
This is also where health of a baby applies as much to the man as it does to the woman. The healthy development of a person’s own body, male or female, will later be a factor in the children that they reproduce.
Even though the idea of eating well and keeping fit during pregnancy is important and is well publicised, your body should have been progressively building itself up throughout your teenage years through a healthy lifestyle. Being in good health pre-conceiving is the best way to ensure a smooth ride for the mother and the baby.
Obviously there will be many other factors to consider such as, genealogy, environment and even finances (relating to stress and the ability to make healthy choices). Not all of these things are controllable but to an extent we are able to adjust factors that can destroy our good health.
Some of those factors that can destroy our good health are:
• Smoking
• Excessive Alcohol
• Drug abuse
• Using products that contain toxins
• Chemical additives in our daily intake such as unnecessary vitamins and diet tablets
• Using badly preserved meats or spoiled foods
• Regular intake of pre-prepared foods
• Lack of meat products in diet
• Lack of vegetables products in diet
• Lack of good hygiene
• Lack of good food balance by not adhering to the food pyramid
• Lack of a sensible amount of daily sleep
• Lack of a good daily supply of clean water
In many cases these factors are controllable and as such they are a matter of choice. One thing that young people do not understand until they are past that point is that they are preparing a body that they will be using for the rest of their lives.
That simply means things thinking about things like; Correctly bending to lift heavy things; Drinking milk; Drinking a reasonable daily supply of water; Keeping sensibly chemical-free.
In this way a teenager will be preparing a body that is less prone to falling to weakness and is more likely to be able to fight off physical problems both in themselves and in the children produced by them in their future years through the healthy workings of their body’s own natural mechanisms.
It’s your body, look after it – no-body else will do it for you!
